Hey everyone!

Sorry I have been absent as of late. As many of you close to me know, I recently had a piece of lattice bonk me right on my noggin which sent me immediately to the hospital to receive staples. Luckily, for my beauty's sake, my hair covers the majority of the damage. Unluckily, I had intensive headaches that practically incapacitated me for days, delaying the ending of Soul Stalker. On another note, the cover for Soul Stalker is rumored to be finished this week and I will post immediately. Trust me when I say WOW! One last thing before we commence with the Soul Stalker goodies . . . I will be on the road from July 6th-11th on I70 between Kentucky and Utah. That includes Southern Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, and Colorado. If you are interested in meeting for lunch or to watch me purchase gas, let me know!

Now onto the first Soul Stalker scene (very unedited):

The fact that I even thought about hitting—or possibly breaking—someone’s knee caps made me feel out of my element. Again, what part of a dungeon-like prison, Shadow guards, and a soulless leader was in my element? Actually, I thought about doing a lot more than hurting a few knees around here. The wave of violence that burned within me was new. Since I had become an angel, violence seemed to be the only thing on my mind; usually vicious thoughts when people felt the need to attack me and those I loved. And no matter how foreign the emotion was, I embraced it this time.

Joseph went for the door first and I practically yanked him back and shook my head. For a whole minute we silently argued, bent down like waddling ducks. He made gestures of how he was male by flexing his bicep and pointing at it, then he nodded and yanked his finger toward the door saying that he should go first. I shook my head, rubbed my fingers together to make a small electric spark, and stabbed my thumb toward the door to tell him I should go first. He didn’t agree, snapped his head left and right fiercely to say no, made his hand into a gun and blew over his pointer finger as if he had just shot a real gun. I rolled my eyes at him as I pointed to his empty holster, not like bullets did anything to the very immortal angels. He put his hand over it and grimaced when he realized it was empty and then he thrust both of his thumbs into his chest and literally—no joke—hit his chest like a wild caveman. I blinked at him as he continued to flex his biceps. Finally, I pointed at my chest to say I should go first and then I drew a halo above my head with my finger. He thought it was funny and then made horns on his head like a devil and stuck his tongue out at me.

The door creaked open and Joseph and I both jumped, startled, when we noticed Patrick lit from the sliver of light that came from the hallway. He shook his head at our muted conversation in slight humor and exasperation as he held the door in his palm. From the outside, I was sure we probably looked like a pair of pantomimes. I looked up toward Patrick and shot him my best glare for opening the door while Joseph craned his neck to see what was behind door number one. Patrick signaled for the all-clear and we all stood. Zola had been leaning against the wall, but seemed to regain some buoyancy at the thought of being free. Being imprisoned for a couple-hundred years and finally realizing it might all be over with would put a smile on anyone’s face. But we weren’t free yet, and somehow I was sure she knew that.

Second Soul Stalker scene (very unedited):

There was a blast of electricity that exploded out of my body, the screech of tires, and the jerk of something around my torso. My head slammed against something and my vision came back to me, as if a hypnotist snapped his fingers and I woke up from a trance. The car moved slowly for a moment before it stopped completely.

The annoying dinging sound a vehicle makes when the door is open and the vehicle is still on was going off. Both Patrick and Joseph’s doors were open but they were missing from their seats.

“Joseph?” I called out as I put my hand to my head, dazed. There was a sore spot at my hairline and it was wet. I pulled my hand away and looked down at the blood. It wasn’t silver, but it wasn’t red either. It was a strange shimmering, pink-tinged mixture that made my heart thud forcefully against my ribcage.

My door opened and I fell backward, my seatbelt catching me. Joseph was at my ear. “Are you okay? Oh shit, your head.”

“I’m fine,” I assured him.

“Sure ya are, Zinger.” The nickname surprised me and I gave a low chuckle. Joseph reached over and unbuckled my seatbelt. I rested against him for a few seconds.

I recognized Patrick’s deep voice. It grew louder along with a voice I didn’t recognize. “Really, it’s no big deal,” the guy said. “That’s what insurance is for.”

“Is she okay, Agent?” Patrick asked.

“I’m fine,” I repeated.

Joseph’s chest shook with laughter. “She’s bleeding, but she’ll be okay.”

“Can she walk?”

“Guys, thanks for the concern but I’m fine.” I rose up in my seat and swung my legs around so I could climb out. Joseph held his hand out and I took it gratefully. When I was on my feet, he let go and my knees went out from under me. Patrick caught me, moving so quickly I blinked up at him a few times, confused. He had this look on his face that I couldn’t quite place; I’d say it was concern, but it was a deeper emotion, one I couldn’t quite understand. “Thanks,” I said softly.

“I—” he cut himself off and his eyebrows came together. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t paying attention and I just ran right into another car. It’s all my fault.”

“It’s okay. I’m—”

“Fine?” Joseph chimed in. “Obviously not. You need to be checked out by a doctor.”

“I am a doctor.” I rolled my eyes at him, but that didn’t deter him from his train of thought.

“Not that kind of doctor.”

“What is ‘that kind of doctor’ going to say when they see my SHIMMERING PINK BLOOD, Joseph?” I changed my voice to mimic one of a concerned doctor. “I’m sorry ma’am, you appear to be suffering from a mild case of Pretty Pretty Princess syndrome? Have you ingested any magical woodland faeries recently?” I tapped my fingers on the top of the car.

I could tell he was trying not to smile. “Oh, and I suppose you’ve examined your share of supernatural head trauma cases?” He raised one eyebrow at me and then pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and began to practically shout orders at someone. I was sure he called someone at the FBI headquarters instead of a regular ambulance.

I have recently come across a website (or eight) that have been freely giving away authors’ work. I am a larger supporter when it comes to writers. I buy their books, be it in a physical copy, digital, or audio file. I will admit there are times I have obtained non-purchased documents or audio files for books, but I have always gone out of my way to purchase each and every book to support that author. To give nothing back to someone who worked diligently for months while stressing over deadlines and editing is revolting.

Soul Stalker Update

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to update you-all on book two. Soul Stalker is coming around quickly. I hit 49,000 words tonight, which is roughly 44% done according to my goal. To celebrate such a successful writing evening, here’s a quote from the book:

The Soul Stalker stalked toward me like a leopard through tall grass and I was the frightened, injured gazelle waiting to be eaten. That was what it came down to: she was the hunter and I was her food. I rose to my feet with a stupendous effort and swayed as I held my side with one hand. My other hand clutched onto the closest tree as if it held the answers to my predicament. My body wept as hot blood leaked through my fingers and splattered across the ground in teardrops. I glared through the ghostly cloud of steam that rose from the warm liquid and right into the Soul Stalker’s smirking face.

I hope to have this finished by mid May and out in stores by late June. I’ll keep everyone updated.

I savored the story and the characters whom I feel like I connected with on many levels. The main hero, Andrew is an angel as well as perfect! He comforts and supports Gabriella while being a perfect gentleman. I can honestly say I am going through withdrawals since I finished the book. Can’t wait for book two to be released so I can have more of Andrew, Gabriella and Joseph, the other swoonworthy male protagonist who is also an FBI agent. Laura creates an emotionally riveting mystery full of myth , magic and romance. I gave it five stars and would recommend it to all of my adult friends!

What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Write! Always write, never stop. Doesn’t matter if it is bad or in need of major help . . . WRITE! You can’t aspire to be a writer if you only dream of it. You must act upon it. And never, ever give up.

Are you working on any future writing projects?
I am 35% done with Soul Stalker, book two in the Timeless Series. There will be a book three, too, and possibly more. It all depends on where I take the story in book three, I suppose. I also have a few ideas brewing for another book or series. Pirates come to mind . . . I guess we’ll have to wait and see where that takes me.

I LOVE THE BOOK!!! I couldn't put it down. I fed my kidsLunchables- the pizza ones and I didn't even heat up the sauce, in fact my two year old was trying to gnaw the sauce open because I forgot to open his.

This book was so full of action and should have been confusing, but wasn't in anyway. The story is just fantastic. My brain can't even come up with a proper review because I am still so in love with it that I just gush and I can't make sense of it yet.

1.With great gentleness, he secured my face in his palms. I stopped breathing then. My heart thumped against my chest. He hesitated, but I continued to gaze into his sapphire eyes. He wiped the wetness away from my cheeks and then moved in closer to me. So many emotions raged through me at once: desire, passion, and ecstasy. He was only an inch away from my face. I closed my eyes and felt the electricity flowing between us. Every second that passed, a new emotion would flit through my body, sending shivers of pleasure through my veins. I trembled under his touch.

2.“They turn those full of light into Shadows.”
“What do they want?”
“Their warnings are never clear . . . Maybe this is why you are here, now. Why I was sent to you.”

3. He closed his eyes and put his forehead against mine.
“I can’t figure it out,” his hot breath filled the air between us.
“What?”
His eyes opened. “This . . . connection we have.”

4.I needed it—the tears, the release—so I could get past this, make a special place for her in my heart and seal it for eternity, because that was what I had now; eternity, forever . . . a timeless immortality.

5.Her eyes were blue, like the ocean, but they burned into mine like fire. “Yes.” Her fingers roamed over a symbol on the chest. It was the exact same symbol I had seen downstairs on the necklaces; the circle with a shield in the middle. The aged wood, a rich brown color, was worn on the edges. “Shadow of the Sun,” she whispered.
“The what?”
“Not what—who.”

6.“No one, human or angel, has ever been able to break the bindings of the Shadow of the Sun. Yet you . . .”
“Did?” I offered.
“Precisely.”

7. No one knew why she acted the way she did, but it wasn’t long before she was nicknamed “Soul Stalker” because she was believed to be devoid of a soul—constantly stalking those who possessed the one thing that she couldn’t.

8. Something landed on top of the car as if it had fallen from the heavens above, the velocity too fast—the collision too violent. I stood, looking over the top of the car. How ironic, it was Andrew—the angel—his body perfectly dented into the black metal, his teeth gritted in anger, as if he wasn’t hurt at all. The woman on the other side of the car narrowed her eyes at me. Andrew hadn’t noticed that I was no longer hid¬den behind the safety of the pile of metal. Instead, I glared at the woman in white—the one that haunted my dreams—more like nightmares. This was the same one who advocated murdering an angel, the same one who tried, and the same one who failed—the one who would fail again.

9. As the wind whipped behind me in our wake—the Shadows only yards behind us—the only thing I seemed to be able to think about was my heart, and how it had shattered into little pieces. 11. I dashed across the room and almost pulled the door off its hinges with my urgency. There was no one there. For a whole second I thought I would collapse from the emptiness—inside myself and outside the room.
“Andrew?” I called out, panicked.
“I’m right here.” He moved from underneath a shadow. His voice was the most angelic, most wel-coming sound I’d ever heard in my entire life. I leaned against the door frame, wilted.
He moved closer to me and his finger traced under my eye. “It’s time you slept.”
I nodded in agreement and he led me back inside the room. There was a soft click of the door as it shut and in that second I felt some relief at being able to hide from the world outside—at least for tonight.

12. My world had crumbled all around me in the last forty-eight hours and now all I could do was try to pick up the pieces. But not tonight, not while each second brought on another round of earth-shattering thoughts and images. I was nearly at the end of my emotional rope. And I didn’t know how I could have made it without Andrew there, holding me.

13. Putting my hand to my temple, I sat up to see Shadows scattered across the ground under the pool of the dim moonlight, their skin black as charcoal. When I stared at the biggest one, it looked as though a flame started up inside him and burned through his eyes. The frightening stories of Shadows slammed into my mind. There had been rumors . . . but I never believed it. The Shadow looked at me as if we knew each other before he raised his upper lip to expose his teeth. A growl escaped from deep in his chest. I backed away in terror, my world aligning in an unfamiliar pattern.

My feet dangled from my perch at my mother’s bed. It had a large canopy with wrought iron metal that twisted into beautiful designs that connected over my head. I had a family photo in one hand and the phone in the other. My life felt torn between who I was and who I was becoming. It literally hurt when I thought about my family back in the States, especially Jenna. At the same time, my heart was still trying to put all the pieces back together after losing the life I never had, the life I had almost returned to.

My graphic designer has told me my cover should be finished my Monday evening, or Tuesday. This is very good news. Because I am feeling so dang happy, I am sending out a little excerpt from my book for my fans! I hope it tantalizes your taste buds for what is to come:

Flowing auburn hair glittered against the sun like molten copper. A knife tucked securely into a holster around a leg. Glacial blue eyes turned toward me over a perfect shoulder, staring, cautioning me. Her face was that of an angel; her body was that of a goddess. The tattoos that covered every last inch of her skin was intricately woven in a pattern that seemed to have no beginning or end.
She turned away from me, her short white dress billowing in the wind. It was silk-like, so thin I could see through it. Her tattoos went beyond her arms and legs; they continued snaking up her back to circle around the shape of two arrows crossed together.

My name is Brianne Villano, of Bevillano Edits, and I am under contract with Laura Kreitzer, author of Shadow of the Sun, part of the Timeless Series of books. I have contributed editing services for her first book, Shadow of the Sun, and she has graciously hired me to be the editor on her second, Soul Stalker.

Social media is also something I’m very excited about, so I am also implementing a social media strategy for her and learning as much as I can about it so that I might take that knowledge and make her a household name. Final edits are being performed on my manuscript and then I will be sending it to the publisher. I am excited and nervous and anxious all at once, to finally have my book in my hands, binded. I've come into some money lately and it looks I even have a marketing plan! Yay for that!

Well folks, it looks as though things are going as planned. I finished chapter 27 last night and now I only have two more chapters to write (Chapter 30 & Epilogue are already written). I will probably exceed my goal of 100,000 words for this book. I am just so happy to be coming to the end so I can send the rest of my book to the editor and get this sucker published!! -does a little happy dance-
